2020 Show Rules

Every orchid show has a set of rules that you have to agree to
if you want to participate.

Who:

This is an open show. Anyone may exhibit in accordance with this schedule and rules.

What:

Blooming orchid plants, non-blooming orchid plants grown for their decorative leaves
or cut orchid flowers may be entered. Orchid Art items may be entered.

Orchid plants treated with dyes are unacceptable for this show.

When:

All entries will be received Friday, April 24 from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.,
and from 5: 00 p.m.-7: 00 p.m.

No plant or entry may be removed before 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Apr 26.
Plants and entries must have been removed by 5:00 p.m. (when the mall closes).

How:

Exhibitors must complete and submit an entry tag (provided at registration) for each plant, cut flower, or art item. Help for this is available at the registration table and on the website. If a plant name is not available, label it as "unknown".

This show has been approved for A.O.S. judging. All flowers, whether entered for ribbon judging or not, will be considered for A.O.S. awards unless marked "Not for A.O.S. Judging" on the entry form by exhibitor. Entries thus marked will not be disqualified for consideration in the proper ribbon or trophy class.

Submission of plants or cut flowers for A.O.S. judging shall obligate the exhibitor to accept any award granted, and to pay any fees connected with such an award, unless the entry is clearly marked "Not for A.O.S. Judging".

Conditions:

All Plant material exhibited or sold must be clean, presentable; disease and insect free and watered, if necessary, before being displayed. Plants that are obviously diseased or infected with pests, or are not properly labeled, may be refused, or the plant removed from the Show and Sale area. Newly imported, not established and indigenous plants are discouraged in exhibits. Any healthy foliage plant may be used in exhibits, but orchids are the only blooms permitted in the show.
The Sacajawea Orchid Society reserves the right to refuse exhibits or displays found to be inappropriate or distasteful.
The Sacajawea Orchid Society provides tables with skirting. All other materials in exhibits are the responsibility of the exhibitor.

Art:

The Sacajawea Orchid Society provides display boards for displaying Art items. The exhibitor may bring additional material in order to display his/her art, but has to comply with the Sacajawea Orchid Society about the display location. The exhibitor may not display his/her business card or price tag on any Art item entered until after the judging has taken place. If an item is sold, it has to stay on display until the end of the show.

Vendor/Group Displays:

For vendor, or group displays, it is recommended that arrangements for display space be completed a minimum of 2 weeks prior to this Show. Sites are allotted by order of receipt of the registration form, with due consideration for requested space. Display space cannot be guaranteed for late arrivals.

Sales:

10% of gross sales is to be given by each vendor to the Sacajawea Orchid Society within 30 days after the show.

Judging:

All plants and art entered will be Ribbon judged by official judges from the American Orchid Society on Saturday April 25, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Entries marked "Not for A.O.S. Judging" will not be considered for A.O.S. awards.

Everyone interested may participate in the judging process.

Cut flowers will be judged with flowering plants of the same class. Orchids that are put in the show after the official registration time will not be judged.

Liability:

The Sacajawea Orchid Society will exercise reasonable precautions in the care of the exhibitor's materials, but neither the Society nor the Gallatin Valley Mall shall be held liable for loss or damage to plants, flowers, any portion of the exhibits, or sales displays.
